Keeping Your Dog’s Nails Trimmed

Nail trimming is a necessary part of dog grooming and it’s much more than just a superficial, cosmetic procedure. It’s essential to the good health and well-being of your dog and should be done frequently enough to keep your dog’s nails short.

Long nails can damage your dog’s feet and cause pain. When your dog’s nails are too long, their nails strike the ground. The result is that each time they walk or run and their nails hit the ground, the pressure puts force on the nail bed, the foot and the leg structure. This can make walking and running difficult and painful. Over time, this can realign the joints and result in a splayed foot.
